Musical and Rhythmic Intelligence
The capacity to think in music, to hear patterns, recognize them, repeat, and manipulate them. People with strong musical intelligence don't just remember music easily, they can't get it out of their minds.
These students think in sounds, rhythms, and patterns. Learning non-musical information is often easier when converted into a rhyme or chant.

The "Music Smart" Student
- Loves rhythm and music
- Works well with background music
- When phonics programs use rhyming words, learns to read easily
- Enjoys poetry and memorizes it easily
- Often finds school provides little outlet for his/her talents
- Extremely sensitive to distraction from environmental sounds (e.g. student chatter, traffic, wind, and rain)
- May tap on the desk or unconsciously hum
