Level Up! Elevations, Towers, and Turrets How many floors does the house have? 1, 1½, 2, 3...?
Tower--a structure proportionally taller than it is wide, starting at the ground level and attached or clustered with another structure. An element of Gothic, Romanesque, Italianate, and Second Empire architecture.
Turret--a small, circular tower attached to a proportionally larger structure, usually on a corner or angle. Turrets typically don’t start at the ground level, either sprouting from the top or cantilevering out from the side of an upper level. Common to Queen Anne and other Victorian-era architecture.
