Indulgence
A Poem by Rabindranath Tagore
On July 14, 1930, Albert Einstein welcomed into his home on the outskirts of Berlin the Indian philosopher, musician, and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Tagore cherished the meeting as "an indulgence, the most stimulating and intellectually riveting conversation." In his later correspondence with Tagore, Einstein gave Tagore the Hebrew honorific Rabbi, or "teacher."
